Exploring Lunenburg and Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia

I arrived via ferry to Digby, Nova Scotia at 10:30 a.m. this morning, and drove a couple of hours to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. I found a parking spot on the street in the center of town, and put in $3 Canadian coins, which bought me about an hour and a half. First on my agenda was having a bite to eat, since I only had a banana for breakfast. I chose the Half Shell, Oysters & Seafood restaurant. Of course I had to try a few oysters, they were yummy and I had a lobster BLT, kind of like a lobster roll but with bacon also. And it was also delish!

Then I went exploring, walking along the main road, the harbor area, and also up on Lincoln Street. I loved the colorful houses, the architecture, and all of the shops selling unique gifts, art, and clothing. It was cool seeing the massive boat, whose image is on the $0.10 Canadian coin.

From there I had an hour and 15 minute drive to Peggy’s Cove. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised! It’s very picturesque with the waves washing over the boulders, the colorful homes perched along the coves, and of course the lighthouse!

It was a 45-minute drive to my Airbnb in Halifax. I think it’s going to rain tomorrow, and I was going to rent a bicycle to explore the town, but we’ll see.
