Best shoes for seniors with feet problems

I’m officially a senior at 65 years old. If you’re like me, you probably have foot pain. The other day I had an MRI of my left foot because there’s a knot in the arch, it could be plantar fasciitis. My feet burn, ache, and are numb sometimes. I thought I might have nerve neuropathy, because my mother had it, but she was diabetic and I’m not. The podiatrist doesn’t think I have that. Someone else mentioned tarsal tunnel syndrome, so when I see the doctor next week I’m going to ask about that.

Anyway, I have some good shoes but have been on the hunt for more. I recently purchased some foot recovery sandals called Oofos.  They’re very comfortable and definitely help my feet.

My girlfriend told me about Vionic shoes, so I purchased some black dressier sandals, and they are comfortable.

I purchased these Ecco sporty sandals a couple of days ago. I took a 2 mi walk in my neighborhood and they’re comfortable. You can get them wet also.

My Hoka gym shoes are comfortable and very cushiony.

I recently purchased these Oboz hiking shoes. I hiked almost four miles in them and they feel great!

My old hiking shoes, the La Sportiva brand were very comfortable, but I think they had almost 500 mi on them. These Abeo sandals are comfy.

I just ordered these Tahoe tie-less gym shoes, hoping they’ll be as good as the others.

Everybody’s feet are different, but I don’t think you can go wrong with most of these brands. Happy shopping!

  1. I have some major issues with my feet. Most of the ones you mentioned but I also carry a lot of excess weight. Several years ago I purchased a walking sandal made by Ryka while I was visiting friends in Florida. They are the best shoe I have ever bought. I literally wore them until they shredded off my feet. I have been trying to replace them since. Unfortunately, Ryka is not sold in Canada and they do not ship to Canada. I am hoping to get to the US soon to try and find some. I know they have a similar recovery shoe like the one you showed. Have you ever tried Ryka? If so, what did you think? I will have to scope out some of your suggestions to see if they are available here.
