Hiking in Yoho National Park, Canada and being stranded

Yesterday I flew from Portland to Calgary, Canada, picked up a rental car and drove 1 1/2 hrs. to Canmore, where my Airbnb is located for 6 nights. This morning I left my Airbnb at 4:15 am, drove to Emerald Lake, and hiked the 3.2 mile loop around the Lake. It’s smoky here so visibility isn’t what it typically is.

Natural Bridge was a 10 minute drive from there.

Next, I drove a little over 30 minutes to Takakkaw Falls and walked .8 miles r/t to see the falls. They are very impressive and powerful!

Then after I had driven 2/3 of the way down the two lane road back towards the main highway, traffic was stopped, so I got out and discovered that a large tour bus was stuck. It took them over 6 hours to free it. ☹️

Oh well, s*** happens. Tomorrow will be a better day.

  1. Beautiful pictures, Sherry! My favorite photo is the first one…. It’s Outstanding! As for the long delay waiting for the clearance of the tour bus saga, “it’s all part of the experience”. I think that phrase comes from Chevy Chase in “European Vacation” 🤣
