Old Quebec, Montmorency Falls, and Île d’Orléans

I left my Airbnb at 7:00 a.m. this morning and drove less than 15 minutes to Old Quebec. I had a pre-planned walking route, which I didn’t really follow.  Since it’s Saturday there weren’t many people out yet. I explored for about an hour and a half.

Then I drove 15 minutes to Montmorency Falls.  I parked in the upper lot first and walked across a bridge over the falls. Then I drove down to the lower lot to get a view from that perspective.

Next I drove about 20 minutes to Île d’Orléans, an island in the St. Lawrence River with about 7,000 residents. It was the first place the French settled in the 17th century. The ancestral homes are adorable.

I drove around the Island, which is about 75 km and takes about an hour with no stops. I stopped at an observation tower, that has great views. I also enjoyed an ice cream made with goat’s milk.

I spent a while relaxing at the Le Vignoble Isle de Bacchus vineyard.

I had a wine tasting which was very good, and a charcuterie board. The weather was glorious today!

Tomorrow, I drive to another National Park to hike (weather permitting) and then to my next Airbnb which is located in Saguenay fjord National Park.
