I feel like I’m on vacation living in Colorado

It occurred to me recently that I feel like I’m on vacation every day since I’ve moved to Colorado. There are so many trails to hike and cycle and things to see and do. Monday I drove down to Lone Tree (a southern suburb of Denver) and hiked with a Meetup group.  I didn’t know what to expect, and was pleasantly surprised with the trail… Bluffs Regional Park Trail. The distant view of the mountains was beautiful!

Wednesday I left at 5:30 a.m. and drove 45 minutes to the Raccoon Trail which is in Golden Gate Canyon State Park. On the way, I stopped to capture a photo of the spectacular sky just before the sun rose. Also, one of the mountains where I was headed.

As I was parking, a lady pulled in and we hiked together. She said she’d done this particular trail many times. We were at an elevation of over 9,000 ft. The trail climbed and there were beautiful wildflowers in the fields.

At the top, I asked her to take my photo. You can see some of the 14ers in the background.

We exchanged numbers and she texted me the photo of a moose she saw just before arriving.

Thursday, I drove almost an hour and a half and met up with a group hiking in Silver Plume.  We hiked the 6 mile Pavilion Point Trail. The trail ascended almost a thousand feet. We were over 10,000 ft elevation. It was good training, but some of the other trails were more scenic.

I have some fun activities planned for this weekend. I hope everyone has a great one!
