Cycling the Mineral Belt Trail and exploring Leadville, Colorado

Monday I drove from Golden to Leadville, Colorado. At 10,200 feet, it’s the highest elevation incorporated city in the U.S. I was looking forward to cycling the 11.6 mile Mineral Belt Trail. I have an e-bike so I wasn’t concerned about the almost 800-ft elevation gain on the trail. It took me about 90 minutes to cycle the trail. The colorful aspens and mountains were so lovely!

Next I stopped for pizza at High Mountain Pies in Leadville. I’ve never had avocado on a pizza, but it was yummy. The town of Leadville is quaint.

I checked into my Airbnb and then drove 10 minutes to hike a one mile nature trail. The drive and the trail were very scenic.

Sleeping above 10,000 ft. Elevation is different. According to my Fitbit, my heart rate was about 10 beats faster than normal during the night. Stay tuned for my adventures in Crested Butte. ⛰️
