A visit to Budapest isn’t complete unless you explore the Castle District, so that’s what we did on our final day. The following day ten of the twelve travelers would be taking flights back home to Cincinnati, Ohio and my friend Richard and I would be taking a train to Munich to continue our European trip. The Castle District is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site and consists of two parts: the Royal Palace itself and the Castle District. Most of this area is a reconstructed medieval city, but the original castle was destroyed in World War II and replaced with the current Royal Palace.
You can see the beautiful Parliament Building from the Castle District…
Here’s another view of it…but I thought Black and White would look nice…
One of the ladies and I split off from the group and went exploring Budapest. We came upon an area with quite a few of these statues…
I like these lamp posts…
We were in the mood for Italian, so we ate at a restaurant called Vapiano‘s. It’s actually a chain in parts of Europe. They prepare your food while you watch and wait…
I had some type of stuffed ravioli that was delish…
We stayed out after dark, which was unusual for me, and I got a shot of the bridge.
Budapest was everything we had hoped for and more!
Your Budapest is quite spectacular! Great photos and I especially like those street lights.

Did you try the city river cruise? lovely sightseeing but the freebie glass of wine was some of the worst I have sampled anywhere in the world!

Some of the people with my group did have a cruise…a few with dinner. I was conserving cash though. Sorry to hear about the wine. ;(

My favorite city in Europe. Love Fisherman’s Bastion and St Matthias Church. The views are so beautiful, sigh. We were there in winter, so nice to see the greenery. Thanks for the pingback on our Prague post above.
