My first Political Protest

I’ve joined a couple of online political groups and met with one of them to write postcards. They were sent to Floridians urging them to vote for Josh Weil on April 1st. Last week I attended a 50501 protest at Cincinnati City Hall and met up with a couple of friends.  I made two signs and let my friend hold one of them. It was hard on my back to stand in one spot for so long.

Like so many of us, I’m very concerned for the United States. We were recently added to the Civicus watch list because of rapidly declining Civic freedoms.  Civicus is an international non-profit organization dedicated to “strengthening citizen action and civil society around the world”.

It seems so many of the Trump supporters I’ve spoken with don’t back up what they say. It’s just an opinion.

I’ve been preparing lots of new recipes. They’ve all been excellent! I love to eat healthy.

1) Baked cod, 2) creamy orzo with butternut squash and spinach 3) A shrimp dish

I’ve been on a few hikes and led one of them. I can’t believe it’s been in the ’70s.

I haven’t drawn a picture in years, but I was in the mood the other day.

My roommate took some pictures of me in case I start online dating again. Then, I went out to an event and afterwards stopped by a semi-gay bar to play a game of pool. These guys looked really cool!

That’s about it for my life lately. ❤️

  1. I love your blog, Sherry! You are looking amazing and it is cool that you have been pursuing so many of your interests. I don’t know if I would ever go to a political protest, but I have thought of joining some support marches that they have here occasionally – like for missing and murdered Indigenous women. I would definitely join your hiking group. The scenery looks amazing. I went for a walk around a few blocks with my husband today. He was very impressed at the way I was climbing over random patches of snow and ice. I am changing up our diet and looking forward to barbecue and salad season. I haven’t got an artistic side at all but enjoyed seeing your drawing. 🙌🌹

  2. I am glad to see that there are protests in the US. The rest of the world just looks on open mouthed. Your sign says it all. As an expat teenager I had a lot of American friends and they were all brought up with the George Washington cherry tree story and how he could not tell a lie and that he had chopped it down. How far from the tree have the cherries fallen. I know it is a myth but in the 70s presidents were viewed a people with principles (Even Nixon had redeeming features, especially in foreign policy). Good luck in April and lets hope some balance can be restored. Fingers crossed

  3. As an American citizen who has paid their taxes and abided by the law – and certainly as someone who has served in the U.S. military – you have definitely earned the right to protest against the nation’s political infrastructure, Sherry!  In many cases, protesting is patriotic.  It’s also a form of free speech.  I’m equally concerned about the direction the U.S. is taking with someone like Donald Trump in the White House.  I believe many Trump voters are now regretting their choice.
