Quechee Gorge Trail, covered bridges in Woodstock, Vermont and Hanover River Trail in Hanover, New Hampshire

Yesterday morning, I got an early start as usual. My first stop was the Quechee Gorge Trail. I was the only one on it. It’s an easy trail.

My plan was to visit three covered Bridges and the Marsh – Billings – Rockefeller National Historical Park. I discovered there was a covered bridges half marathon. Therefore, I wasn’t able to access the National Historic Park.  The first covered bridge was Taftsville Covered Bridge.

In Woodstock, Vermont, I stopped to check out the town and the Middle Covered Bridge. People were beginning to congregate for the marathon. It’s a cute town!

I visited this area in 2006. In fact, I remember having a bite to eat at the Simon Pierce restaurant, shown in the photo on the right. So much has happened since then. I’m a completely different person.

The final covered bridge was the Quechee Covered Bridge.

Next I hiked the 2-mile Hanover River Trail in the Mink Brook Nature Preserve, in Hanover, New Hampshire. It’s located just across the border from where I’m staying in Vermont. I can actually breathe easier here in these blue States 😅

It’s a lovely trail along the Mink Brook. I enjoyed forest bathing 😊

Today I’m headed to Lake Placid for a couple of nights.

  1. I love seeing your travels. I used to take solo trips myself, years ago. Loved the solitude, sense of freedom, time to decompress. Thanks for sharing such great photos. Your plan to visit Lake Placid made me think of the fun campy movie Lake Placid. It’s a hoot!

  2. Looks like you’ve hiked some beautiful trails in the New England area, and the vintage covered bridges are very cool, as well! Wishing you safe travels, dear Sherry ~ thanks for sharing! 🌹xo

  3. Beautiful photos. I’ve visited New Hammpshire but I’ve only been to Vermont once and it was mostly by accident. It was during hurricane Sandy and we were traveling from West New York to Boston. However, interstate 90 was flooded so we drove up to Vermont to contnue East.
