Yesterday, I drove six hours to St. Louis, Missouri. It was the first stop on my road trip to Colorado. My car is packed to the brim since I sold everything that doesn’t fit in my vehicle to move there. I developed a one mile self-guided walking tour. I’ve never been to St. Louis. The first stop was the Gateway Arch National Park. I’ve seen the arch from the highway, but never up close. It’s pretty impressive!

I wondered what this building was, and discovered it’s a museum called the Old Courthouse.

There weren’t many people downtown, it was very hot, in the ’90s. My phone kept overheating as I walked around. City Garden Sculpture Park and Serra Sculpture Park are located a few blocks from the arch. They’re pretty!

Next I drove to the St. Louis Museum area to check out the grounds. It was very crowded…difficult to find a parking spot. The view across from the art museum is expansive! It’s called Art Hill.

The Boathouse at Forest Park restaurant has a nice setting at Post Dispatch Lake.

Today, I’m headed to Kansas City, Missouri.
Both Mary and I remember St. Louis fondly – the city, the Arch and the views from its top, and the great bicycling there.

This looks a wonderful walk. We saw a lot of public art and fine buildings in our US travels. I really must get on with those stories.
