I’ll get to my “stuff” in a minute. My deceased son’s birthday was New Year’s Eve. I was sitting out in the park next to my Airbnb early that morning and a lone coyote walked by. He kept stopping and looking at me. I believe it was my son’s spirit reaching out.

I didn’t think I was going out New Year’s Eve, but I asked a friend /acquaintance if she’d like to go out to dinner, so we did. Afterwards, we walked across the parking lot to a bar to have one drink before heading home. It was filled with mainly Indian people, since the owner is Indian. I tried to get my friend to dance once, but she said she didn’t know how, and then finally admitted that it felt weird for her since everybody was Indian. I got up in the middle of them and danced. I’m not sure why people feel awkward with people from diverse ethnicities. I’m 19 years older than her, so I told everyone she was my daughter.

I’ve been going through my “stuff” and getting rid of even more of what I brought to Colorado. I’m preparing for my 5-month road trip, once I return from Spain. I’m down to basically just clothes. I believe I’m in a shedding process. I was forced to shed my family since they died, then I made the choice to shed my home, furniture and possessions. I recently got my hair cut off and may get it cut even shorter. There’s definitely a feeling of freedom that comes with this lifestyle, and if you’re comfortable being by yourself, then this could work for you.
Here are some photos from my recent hikes…

I’ve been feeling grateful lately and more balanced. Hopefully your new year is off to a great start!
Happy Heavenly Birthday to your son, Sherry. Yes, I truly believe that coyote was your son in disguise. I’ve occasionally dreamed of my late dog, Wolfgang, and realized later it was my father trying to send me a message.
I think it’s great you jumped into that group of people to dance! Food and music almost always brings people together.
