I made it to Spain!

After 24 hours of travel, with about 1 hour of sleep, I arrived in Malaga, Spain and spent one night at a hotel by the train station. Yesterday morning I took the train to Cordoba and then walked in the rain for 15 minutes, lugging my suitcases to my Airbnb. It’s a studio with minimalist design. I’ll be here for a month.

After unpacking, I went to a nearby grocery and undertook the frustrating task of figuring out what to purchase, since everything was in Spanish. I used Google lens translate. Food is definitely less expensive here than in the US. Then I had to figure out how to use the stove, the microwave, and set up the induction coffee pot for in the morning. I laid low, recovering from jet lag. It’s supposed to rain off and on for the next week, and I believe it’s been raining for weeks here.

The Airbnb host told me that there had been a leak in the bathroom ceiling from the above unit, but it was fixed. I noticed water on the floor earlier today and looked up and it looks like the ceiling is going to cave in. I notified him and he spoke with the tenant upstairs. I guess workmen will have to access my unit to fix it. There was also someone renovating a couple of units down the street, banging for about an hour. I hope that doesn’t go on every day.

I don’t have a great sense of urgency to have to go and explore, since I have a month. I do plan on sightseeing tomorrow.
