Hiking on the Appalachian Trail was another bucket list experience! I discovered that you can hike Lodge to Lodge, so you don’t have to carry a tent and food (other than snacks and lunch), along a 17 mile portion of the trail through Virginia in the Shenandoah National Park. If you’d like to plan your own trip, the details are here.
These are some of the images I encountered while hiking…
I understand why they call it the Blue Ridge Mountains…
Taking a quick break…
Sunset after hiking the first day…
My friend Cindy hittin’ the trail again…
The trail wasn’t always easy…
We were rewarded with a beautiful deer…
If you’re thinking there’s no way I can hike for two days in a row…you may surprise yourself!

All beautiful images, but the first photograph of the path through the grass, framed by the trees, seems so inviting! Thank you for sharing!

Yeah not bad, still waiting to show you around 😛 Are the posts that you’ve added recently from previous trips? Either that or you’re run off your feet (or I’ve not read them properly)… but you’re having fun which is the main thing!

I’ll have to make my way further north next time I’m in Virgina. I backpacked the AT at Grayson Highland and Jefferson National Forest. Now that was a beautiful hike with the wild ponies. 🙂

What a great place to hike. I love that photo of the trail where it seems to disappear into a tunnel in the trees.
