Completed in 1969, Temppeliaukio Kirkko aka Rock Church in Helsinki, Finland is awe-inspiring! It reminds me of a space ship and the ceiling resembles a fried egg. Built into the surrounding rock (hence it’s name), it’s one of Helsinki’s most popular tourist sites.
Kampii Chapel of Silence is also definitely an interesting piece of architecture…
the simple and tranquil interior…
After exploring the two churches, we stopped at Helsinki’s Central Market for a peek and to grab a late lunch…
I came up with a game where we would split up and meet back 15 minutes later with a photo or photos of the oddest thing you could find in the Market. I found fried Vendale…
and Reindeer Pate!
The colorful fruit wasn’t unusual, but it was bright and cheerful…
Back outside, we saw a cool metal sculpture…
the Central Railway Station…
and since it was another rainy day…
I decided to get my hair shampooed and styled…
Our Airbnb hostess picked us up and took us to the West Harbor for boarding the St. Peterline ship that would take us to St. Petersburg, Russia for 72 hours, Visa-Free! Bye bye Helsinki!
What a great tour, thank you!😆

Very nice post. I am glad that you visited these too churches which give a pale idea about our churches. The ceiling of Rock Church is like space ship indeed. It reminds me about the movie Independence Day from the year 1996. 🙂
Happy and safe travels!
