On Saturday, I went hiking with a group in the James peak wilderness area. The hike began at an elevation over 9,000 ft., and was almost 7 miles with an elevation gain of 1600 ft. The leader hiked very fast and I was breathless for much of the hike. It was a great workout! Since I arrived early, I stopped in Nederland and took a photo at the Barker Meadow Reservoir.

The scenery was spectacular!

On Sunday I joined a group at Evergreen Lake. We walked around the lake and then hung out and talked for a little while. There were kayakers and paddle boarders enjoying the lake. I love how it sparkled in the sunlight.

Tuesday I did a solo hike at Mount Falcon Park. It was 4 miles but only 465 ft. elevation gain. It was going to be almost 100° that day so I arrived at 7:00 a.m. The haze didn’t burn off until I left, so it wasn’t too hot.

Yesterday I went for a hike in Boulder with a guy I met at a Meetup. It was actually a walk, very pretty though. We passed by Wonderland Lake.

Wednesday evening I had dinner with a lady I met through hiking. We went to a restaurant in Old Arvada. It was my first time exploring that area. The pedestrian only area is nice.

What a contrast to my life in Northern Kentucky. I knew I would love it here!

9000/10600 feet, that is high up, and 7 miles hike. No wonder you were breathless. The photos are gorgeous.

As we age I’m discovering I keep giving up activities I used to be able to do, like Trail jogging. Some day I’ll have to give up hiking. It must be difficult, thanks for stopping by!
