Exploring Cordoba, Spain

Yesterday it stopped raining for a few hours and the sun came out! I walked about 4.5 miles…through various neighborhoods in Cordoba. I love old architecture and pretty flowers!

My main destination was the Palacio de Viana. The courtyards were so lovely with the fountains and greenery.

I prepare meals at home more often than I eat out. Since I’m a nomad now, my home is wherever I’m staying. I purchased/prepared fresh salmon and asparagus for dinner from the grocery for less than 6 euros and it was delicious! The pastries from a bakery were almost as much.

I’ve been doing more travel planning when it’s too rainy to explore. That’s one of the advantages of slow travel, you don’t feel like you have to see everything the first few days or week.

  1. I hope you are shaking off those early blues. So natural to experience them, I think. You are in a strange place totally dependent on yourself. You’re not filling up all those spaces with meetups and walks as you were doing in your States nomadic adventures.

No doubt you’ll find your rhythm soon, and acquire bits of the language (don’t you already have some Spanish?) which will enable you to be a member of the community you are currently observing.

(Excuse me, a couple of wines in already, and mourning my previous rolling stone life.)

    • Yes, I am feeling better already. I don’t know any Spanish, in fact, every time I go to say hello, hola, I have to catch myself to not say aloha! 😁 It’s not helping that the leak in the bathroom ceiling has been a problem. Workman came in and cut some of the drywall out and supposedly stop the leak, but it started again. The host is going to let me move into another one tomorrow, a few doors down for the remainder of my stay. Once this rain stops for a day or two, I’ll feel even better. The day won’t be long from now when I’ll be mourning my rolling stone life also. I have chronic pain from a number of conditions.

  2. A post that conveys the pleasure of traveling without haste. Córdoba emerges as a place to stroll, observe, and be captivated by its ancient architecture, patios, and flowers. The way of experiencing the trip—slow, everyday, and mindful—gives it a special charm: cooking at home, planning calmly, and savoring every moment as the sun rises. A truly inspiring experience.
