I’m in Puerto Rico!

After a 13 hour day of traveling, I arrived at my Airbnb in Dorado, P.R.  It’s about an hour west of San Juan. I only stayed one night and yesterday I drove almost three hours (including sightseeing stops) to the west coast. I drove along the North Atlantic side.  I’ll stay for two weeks, before heading East along the southern Caribbean coast.

My Airbnb in Dorado was only a minute walk to the beach. The weather wasn’t the greatest in the morning so I didn’t stay long.

My first stop was Reserva Natural Cueva del Indio. It’s $10 to park and I was the first one there. You walk over a lot of sharp rocks. They almost seemed volcanic. The views were beautiful!

My next stop was La Poza del Obispo. It’s a pretty circular Beach. There were a couple of guys swimming. This time of year is not the greatest for swimming because of the rip current.

The view from Mirador de Guajataca was gorgeous!

I stopped for a late lunch at a restaurant in Aguadilla. I tried one of Puerto Rico’s specialties, Mofongo. It’s a fried plantain-based dish made with fried green plantains mashed together with broth, garlic, olive oil. I chose the mixed seafood, with shrimp, fish, and maybe octopus to go on top. It was tasty, but not something I will seek out.

The houses are quite colorful there.

I stopped at Walmart for a beach umbrella and groceries. Today I’m going to have a massage. 🙂
