Meet Sherry

Looking back, my decision to resign from a traditional 8 to 5 job to take care of my mother, was the beginning of a wonderful chapter in my life! Working in the corporate world for 30 years and raising a son left little time to discover my likes/dislikes. I soon discovered that traveling is in my blood (I’ve moved over 40 times) and have been fortunate to be able to explore 60 countries.

Starting my own travel meetup in 2014 enabled me to take over 20 people to 24 countries in Europe and Central America. I’ve had time to take some photography classes and was a Photographer and Travel Writer for Cincinnati Refined for five years, in addition to having my own photography business. In 2016, I began another business taking people on tours of Cincinnati and by 2019 had hired seven freelance Tour Guides and was #1 on Trip Advisor! I retired during the pandemic.

A few of my accomplishments/adventures have been hiking solo to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, running a half marathon, hiking to Machu Picchu in Peru, sky diving, and traveling over 5,000 miles in an Overland Truck through six African countries, camping most of the way.

I’m a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army for four years, stationed in Germany for the majority of that time and have my B.A. in Business from the University of Texas at Dallas.

In 2018 my husband passed away and a year later my only child. The only way I thrive is to focus on being grateful for what I have left. In 2025 I became a nomad. I sold my home, my furniture, and everything that didn’t fit in my SUV and drove to Denver, where I stayed for 7 months. From there I spent 2 months in Spain and a month in Utah. I drove to Asheville/ Hendersonville, North Carolina in May of 2026 and am going to settle down here.

  1. Hi. Your blog is very nicely designed, with big pictures that jump out with people, life and colour.

I hope I am as awesome as you in my 50’s :).

Thanks and look forward to reading about your adventures.

  5. Thanks for dropping into my blog and I’m really pleased that you found something to like. Your liking my post “picked me up” – at least metaphorically. Than you again. I’m looking forward to wandering around your blog for a closer read.

  6. I just wanted to stop over and say thanks for taking interest in my blog. You’re an admiration of how I want to live when I’m fifty. I’m 20, but I tell people I’m still 5 on the inside. Stay young forever! — Benny

  11. Thanks for the follow Sherry. We can inspire each other with our travel stories, both inner and outer.
I looked at your take a peek page – I’ve done almost all of them but not sky diving, zip lining or white water rafting. Really really want to try zip lining.

  13. Travel Spirit…I have never read your complete”About”. I just finished reading all of it plus all of the comments coming in to it and going out of it. My first finger is now sore from scrolling my Mac Mouse. But it was so well worth it. You are a true inspiration. Thank you for creatively doing what you do with passion.

    • Harold – That is so kind of you to do and to let me know! That’s what I want to be. Inspirational for people, because we all, some more than others, put up road blocks to accomplishing what our hearts want or need! And what the world needs! You are doing the same…so from one passionate explorer to another…Cheers!
