Bosque de Chapultepec is a 1700 acre park that contains nine museums, a castle, amusement parks, winding paths, commemorative sculptures, lakes and fountains. It’s considered the first and most important of Mexico City’s “lungs”, with trees that replenish oxygen to the Valley of Mexico.

The weather turned cooler and cloudy today so I thought it would be a great day to go to three of the museums in the park. I walked almost 2 miles to Museo de Arte Moderno. I really enjoyed exploring this museum.

Next I walked 5 minutes to the Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporaneo. Luckily it was free for seniors, since there wasn’t that much to see and it was just okay.

The Museo Nacional de Antropologia was another 5-minute walk. This place is amazing, it’s on par with the museums in Washington D.C. and it’s only $5.

After walking my legs off, I stopped at a restaurant for a late lunch/ early dinner. All together I walked over 7 mi. There’s still more for me to see at the Bosque de Chapultepec.
I went on a 3-mile walk in my neighborhood (La Condesa) and surrounding areas (Roma) for my first day in Mexico City. I’ll be here through the month of February. My main destinations were Parque Mexico and Parque España.

Had a late lunch / early dinner at La Vineria.

I just have to remember to keep my mouth shut when I shower 😅

I’m sitting in the JFK airport waiting for my flight to Mexico City. My original flight was to connect in Dallas and I would have arrived at 4:00 p.m. to Mexico City but it was canceled right before leaving for the airport because of ice storms in Dallas. I booked this flight that has a 5-hour layover and arrives at 12:15 a.m. My Airbnb is located in one of the nicest areas of the city, Condesa.
I’ll have 27 days to explore the largest city in the western hemisphere. I prepared an itinerary with places I will visit, listed below.
Bosque de Chapultepec
Museo Soumaya…America’s Park…Polanco… Parque Lincoln
Basílica de Guadalupe
Parque de la Bombilla…Plaza del Carmen…Casa del Obispo Galeria de Arte Popular…Parroquia San Jacinto…Atrio de la Parroquia San Jacinto…Bazaar Saturday

I’m signed up to do a couple of Airbnb experiences: Waters of Tolantongo, and a 5-hour bike riding tour. There’s also a hiking experience and a canal boat experience that I most likely will purchase. I’m also hoping to spend a couple of nights in the beautiful town of San Miguel de Allente.
I joined a couple of meetup.com groups, so I plan on meeting some locals. It should be an amazing trip!

Time to go back home to Northern Kentucky, it’s supposed to be in the 30s, time for snow skiing ⛷️
A friend joined me for five nights of my 10 night stay in St. Petersburg, Florida. We rented bicycles for 2 days and took the complimentary bus from our Airbnb to downtown St. Petersburg. There are some slots for bicycles to be stored while riding on the bus.

These are some of the sites we saw while cycling.

I love areas like this where you can cycle along the water front.
I took the complimentary shuttle from my Airbnb near St. Petersburg Beach, Florida to downtown St. Petersburg and then walked about a half a mile to the Salvador Dali museum.

Salvador Dali was from Figueres, Spain. Major themes in his work include dreams, the subconscious, sexuality, religion, science and his closest personal relationships.

The admission price is normally $30, but on Thursday evenings from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. it’s half price.
These are a few of the sites I saw while bicycling at St. Petersburg Beach. I cycled about 8 mi round trip.

Bicycling is a great way to get some exercise and see things at a slower pace.
I’ve seen Chihuly glass sculptures in various places but this collection was exceptional!

If you’re ever in St. Petersburg, Florida, try to make a stop at this museum.
I’ve been to the beach a few times since I arrived here in St. Petersburg, Florida. My favorite things to do at the beach are to walk and people watch.

I left home on December 5th for 10 days in St. Petersburg, Florida. Since my family has died, there’s not much for me to do around the holidays so I decided to get away for some fun in the sun.
The Airbnb I picked out is less than 2 mi from the beach and there’s a complimentary shuttle that stops a few blocks away that transports you to the beach and also to downtown St. Petersburg.

A girlfriend joined me for 5 days which was nice. I go home on Thursday.
My friend Scott and I left Tuesday Morning on a road trip to the Smoky Mountains National Park. I had booked an Airbnb for two nights above Gatlinburg. It was more room than we needed, with three bedrooms and two baths. The highlight of our lodging was the view from the balcony on the third floor.

The following day we did a 2 1/2 mile hike at Laurel Falls.

Autumn is my favorite season, I love the colors!

We stopped to check out Mannish Branch Falls, but weren’t able to cross the creek to see it up close.

Our next stop was “the Sinks”.

Our second hike was 5.5 miles at Rainbow Falls. The elevation change was 1,500 ft.

The mountains were dusted with snow.

Since it hadn’t rained much for a while, the falls were smaller than usual but still beautiful.

We saw two bears from the car.

All together we walked over 10 miles yesterday, and my body knew it. After a hot shower, some pizza, and a couple of Tylenol, I was almost good as new.
