Chapultepec Castle and Museum

Today I decided to have a short day since I was gone for 16 hours yesterday. This morning I registered online for the Ecobici  bicycle sharing program here in Mexico City.  They have an annual membership for $28 and a few others, but not a monthly membership, so I chose the annual. It’s so inexpensive. You just have to have the bicycle back to another station within 45 minutes or there’s an additional charge. My confidence was bolstered from the bicycle tour I did the other day.

After my bicycle tour the other day,  some of Mexico City seems to be bicycle friendly. I decided to cycle to Chapultepec Castle and Museum. After returning my bicycle to a nearby station, there was a 7 minute uphill walk to the Castle.  If you’re over 60 years old, the entrance is complimentary.

The Castle is quite large, it took me a couple of hours to go through it, and that was without reading a lot of the posted history. It’s very beautiful!

The gardens are gorgeous!

Here are some of the museum sections.

The castle was more interesting and beautiful than I thought it would be.

Although I thought it would be a light day of walking, I still walked 5 miles total. Going to take a nap now.
