The High Line is a 1-mile linear park built on a section of the former elevated New York Central Railroad. It runs from near 14th Street up to 30th Street. The first section was opened in 2009 and the second in 2011. After visiting Chelsea Market, I walked outside to the steps that took me to the park. What a great idea for a park!
There are lots of cool creative pieces of art along the walk. I’m not sure what those wooden posts sticking up in the Hudson River are…
There are nice places to sit and relax all along the way.
This architecture is very unique…
I love all of the greenery coming up through the old railroad tracks…
This father and son were so cute…I asked to take their photo!
This piece of modern art on the side of a building was drawing a lot of attention…
I read that there hasn’t been any violent crime in the park most likely because it is so highly visible from the buildings along side of it. During the Spring/Summer/Fall the park is open from 7am-10pm.
LOVE this architecture…
There are pretty views of the City from the park…
I exited at the end…30th Street and didn’t have too much farther to walk to reach my next destination…Times Square!

Isn’t it spectacular??? I remember when we first went up on it about three years ago, shortly after it opened, and I was just blown away by the creative use of space, the spectacular landscaping, and all the amenities (gorgeous chaise lounges to sit in…) — really makes you LOVE NYC, right?

This is a great idea. The park is lovely and the old tracks themselves become part of the “green space”. I don’t remember hearing about this so I am wondering how new it is. It will be one of my first stops the next time I am in New York.
You love that curvy architecture. They have just completed a complex here that is two curvy towers that they refer to as “The Marilyn Towers”. The shape is that of Marilyn Monroe’s figure. Really interesting.

Ah, that explains it. My last trip there was in 2008. Here is a link to something about the Marilyn Towers but if you just image google them there are some great shots of them. http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2012/06/14/marilyn_monroe_towers_in_mississauga_among_worlds_best_new_skyscrapers.html
