Looking back at everything I’ve done in the past year, makes me realize how lucky I am. My year has been filled with lots of life!
Exercise always plays a big part. Not only hiking…
but also…biking…
yoga, Pilates, water-skiing, and volleyball.
Too many parties to remember! Festivals, concerts, and boating…
Being a “Tourist in my City” and attending a variety of annual events such as the Reds Opening Day Parade, Taste of Cincinnati, Best of Cincinnati, and Summerfaire. Also going to the Cincinnati Zoo…
Party in the Park–held on the Ohio River in Downtown Cincinnati…
and Washington Park
Wineries…
Of course there was some work in there…occasional house cleaning jobs, photography shoots, and helping a friend with moving and organizing. Taking a few photography classes, along with purchasing my first DSLR camera…a Nikon D5100 and Lightroom 5. And teaching myself how to use them!
Don’t forget the travel! In April a solo “Couchsurfing” trip to Philadelphia…
and New York City
Memphis in June…
Arriving to Colorado in September, the day before the horrible floods came and evacuating just in time to enjoy the week…
And of course, the annual girls’ weekend in October. This year in Indiana…
Cooking new recipes and using fresh organic ingredients from Earthshares, a program I joined through Grailville. Discovering new music and books. Some of my favorite books were…The Giver; Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail; Born to Run; The Secret Life of Bees; and Half the Sky Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide. I’m a member of Goodreads.com and love it!
I’m taking more steps towards the things I’m passionate about and learning to face my fears! I joined a photo contest, made a book with my photographs, and also some calendars. I gave my first travel presentation and started my own Travel meetup!
And we welcomed a new member to our family–Katie the Kitty…
I’m grateful for everyone and everything in my life and continue to grow! Sending peace to all of you!

I loved your photos. There is much for me to aspire to in that department. I am definitely not getting what I could out of my camera. Did you consider Photoshop or was Lightroom a clear decision for you? How did you achieve the effect with the children in the water? That appeals to me.

Thanks very much! Lightroom is less expensive than Photoshop and my current photography instructor recommended it. For the shot of the children in the fountain, I used the silhouette feature of my camera. The lighting has to be right for it to work well though. You’ll need to experiement!

Love my girlfriend trips too. There’s something special about maintaining those friendships and being all together in one space, even if for a finite period of time. I hope all the following year will be as good to you.
