Day 2 – Devil’s Kettle Trail, Artist Point, Oberg Mountain Loop Trail, and Cross River Falls along the North shore of Minnesota

This morning I drove half an hour from my lodging in Lutsen to Judge C.R. Magney State Park and hiked the 2 mile Devil’s Kettle trail to the falls. There were lots of steps.

You cross this beautiful river to get to the waterfall.

On the way to my next spot, I had to stop and take a photo of this person’s front yard. It was filled with driftwood, stones and unique artifacts. At first glance it looks like garbage, but it’s actually quite cool!

At Artist Point in Grand Marais, you can either turn right and walk along a narrow path of concrete or turn left and walk about half a mile round trip through the woods for a different vantage point of the shore and the lake. I turned left.

Next I drove 20 minutes to hike the 2.3 mile Oberg Mountain Loop via Superior trail.

The scenic overlooks were gorgeous!

Before heading back to my lodging in Lutsen, I stopped at Cross River Falls, which you can access from the highway.

It was a great day today on the North shore of Minnesota!
