The Kentucky Derby is a big thing in Kentucky. I went to a derby party with a guy I was dating. I purchased a new dress, shoes, hat, and purse. I wanted something simple, yet casual and somewhat dressy. He allowed his daughter to have a party at his place for about 25 people, so we hung there for a few hours before the party. He had a TV set up so we could watch from the backyard porch. His daughter and her friends are so sweet and cute!
The Kentucky Derby party was nice, but everyone knew each other, so there was only one lady that spoke with me for a while. We each picked a horse name out of a bucket and I picked the winning horse! The prize was $240, so my date split it with me. He could have been the one that picked that horse, we’re not sure.

Wouldn’t miss watching the Derby. We have our own Triple Crown here in Canada. It starts with The Queens Plate (which is now The Kings Plate), Then The Prince Of Whales and we wrap it up with The Breeders Stakes. My husband works in the racing industry and I have been to a lot of these all decked out just like the Derby. I even had the priviledge of attending the Queen’s Plate when she was in attendance. It was spectacular.
