Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Colorado

Yesterday I drove from Palisade to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.  I stopped along the 16 mile round trip route at most of the scenic overlooks. There were usually a  .2 to .5 mile short walks to the views. It was awe inspiring. The best time for photographs would be closer to dusk, but I still captured some good ones.

Afterwards, I had lunch in Montrose  at this place out on the cute patio.

I rented the downstairs of a couple’s home through Airbnb. It’s very spacious and nice.

Tomorrow I drive to Great Sand Dunes National Park.

p.s.  I really appreciate those of you who are following along on my trip, it helps me to not feel as alone ❤️

  1. amazing pics! You are a very intrepid traveler and inspiring. That’s a lot of driving, do you find it’s best to go early so you can drive slower? I always feel pressured to go faster than I would like in these view areas. Im sorry I missed your time in Northern California, it would have been fun to meet you. easy does it!
