Most of my plans were messed up yesterday. I drove from Saratoga Springs to Albany to check out the architecture at the New York State Capitol building. I had picked out my parking place ahead of time, but it’s very confusing navigating/walking to the Capitol building, around the plaza, and back to the parking lot. On top of it, there was construction, so you had to walk all the way around the building. If you ever visit, you’ll see what I mean.
The grand staircase is cool.

The empire plaza was nice to stroll around. The structure below is an event center, called the egg.

From there I drove to TR Gallo Waterfront Park. It was quite disappointing, not very picturesque. Therefore, no pictures.
Then I was going to hike at Mohonk Sky Top, but, the gate attendant said you had to book online and it’s $35. I said no thank you.
The final stop before heading to my Airbnb in New Paltz, New York was the Walkway over the Hudson State Park. At this point, I was tired and I still don’t feel well, so I decided to cancel that Airbnb and head to the next one near Penn State, Pennsylvania. Luckily, they had availability for last night and let me switch.
I have an almost 7-hour drive today, but then I’ll be home!!! It was a nice 3-week road trip, but I feel road weary.
Albany can be a pain to navigate but there is so much to see! Great pictures!

I get where you’re coming from! Wandering through the Capitol really does sound like a trek of its own—kind of like hiking in Nepal, where unexpected detours are just part of the journey. Even if it’s a bit of a maze, finding gems like that grand staircase makes it so rewarding. Happy you still got to enjoy the amazing architecture!

Totally get what you mean! Navigating around the Capitol sounds like its own little trek — kind of reminded me of walking the trails in Nepal, where detours and surprises are just part of the journey. Even if it takes longer or gets confusing, moments like seeing that grand staircase make it all worth it. Glad you still got to enjoy the architecture!

I completely understand—slowing down can make all the difference on road trips! By the way, I’d love to explore a partnership with you. We’re Himalaya Heart Trek from Nepal, and I’m curious—what would be the best way to connect and discuss opportunities?
Looking forward to hearing from you!

I’m not at a point in my life where this would work. But thanks for the offer.

Yes, the staircase is stunning! I’m sorry you experienced a few snags in close proximity, but it sounds like you rebounded well and are on your way to well-deserved relaxation at home. Thanks for sharing your travels, dear Sherry, and I hope the final leg, today, finds you safe and sound. 😘
