My final two weeks in Colorado

The last couple of weeks have seemed long, since I’m anxious to get to Spain. There have been a number of train accidents and flooding within Southern Spain, and I was notified yesterday that my high speed train from Malaga to Cordoba was canceled. I had to hustle and make another reservation. Luckily, I read an email from the airline that suggested checking to see if there were any requirements for entering the UK. I didn’t realize that I had to obtain an ETA, since I’ll be spending one night at a hotel by the Heathrow airport on my way back. It was a quick and easy process on my phone. I’m not looking forward to the flights, since I have chronic pain, but I’ll take some over the counter anti- inflammatories and Tylenol.

I’ve been super busy researching and making reservations for another trip to Europe in September. I’ll spend 3 weeks in England, meeting up with a lady I met on a trip a couple of years ago. She’ll join me for the Lakes district and York portion, and I’ll spend a few nights at her place before heading to London for four nights. Then I’ll fly to Porto, Portugal for a week and Lisbon for a month. Finally, I’ll spend a month in Lagos.

I went on a solo hike up another incline, and a group hike that was fun.

I had dinner with a friend one night and met another lady for drinks and dinner at an upscale restaurant.

Last night, I went to another friend’s place and had a going away dinner. I’ll be glad to leave the country, given all of the atrocities that are happening.

  1. Years ago, I was having treatment for a bulging disc. Eventually the therapist used the heel of his hand and whacked it back into position. Of course, he would have a different way of describing that treatment, and I could never advise another person to go that route, but hey! 40 years later, and still no problem.

I have a great affinity with the Lake District of England for several different reasons, so am looking forward to your photos/stories. And yes, the updated entry requirements for UK have lit up Australian social media due to the huge number of people who hold both British and Australian passports. Anyway, you’re in!

  2. Looks like it was a wonderful hike. Regarding chronic pain – have you tried pain patches? They have “saved my sanity” many times (bad back).
And if you have time while in England, the Hadrian Wall hike is outstandingly beautiful. We plan to return in 2027 (my spouse’s health permitting) and want to resume where we left off.
I wish you safe, pain free, and fantastic travels!
