Learning to go with the flow and exploring Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona

I found out a couple of days ago that I have a complex torn meniscus and baker’s cyst in my injured knee. I had been trying to take it easy and let it heal, but it didn’t get any better. After shedding some tears of disappointment and frustration, I spent all day Friday canceling 24 accommodations and other arrangements for the next 4 months of my road trip. I decided the best move is to drive to Asheville, North Carolina where I’m planning to settle down and scheduled an orthopedic surgeon appointment there. I booked four hotels for the drive and spent last night in Gallup, New Mexico. I also secured an Airbnb for a week in Asheville and have some leads for places to live.  I stopped on the way and visited Petrified Forest National Park. It exceeded my expectations. The weather was picture perfect…in the ’60s.

One good thing about getting older is acquiring wisdom for acceptance and the ability to go with the flow. ✌️

  1. What an incredible place! I’m sorry to hear about your knee though, and cancelling plans is always tough – but your health is more important and I hope the treatment helps heal it quickly.

  2. I’m so sorry to hear about your injured knee and altered plans, dear Sherry. Sending warm wishes for your recovery, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy Asheville, NC. Before originally moving from Michigan to Knoxville, TN, I thought a lot about moving to Asheville, to enjoy the surrounding natural beauty. xoxoxo
