Cycling on Block Island, Rhode Island

Yesterday, I took the 9:00am Block Island Ferry from Point Judith, Narragansett, RI to Block Island, arriving at 10:00am. Before leaving, I snapped a pic from the ferry. The water was a beautiful Cobalt blue!

I walked a few minutes to Island Moped & Bike to pick up my reserved scooter.  They were very busy and the guy that was supposed to show you how to use the scooters wasn’t good at his job. I’ve been on a scooter once about 30 years ago. Anyway, he told me to move it over to the left, but didn’t go over any instructions. I ended up crashing it into another scooter and exchanged it for a bicycle. The island is quite hilly, so I got a workout on my 10 mile ride. I was going to see more, but I’d had enough.

My first stop was the Southeast Lighthouse.

You can see the Mohegan Bluffs from the lighthouse area. I rode over to the bluffs and went down lots of steps to check it out. They’re quite dramatic and remind me a bit of the California coast.

The homes on the island are lovely. It definitely wasn’t sunbathing weather. It was in the high 50s and low 60s.  I prefer this type of weather than when it’s too hot.

I leave this morning for three nights in Provincetown, Massachusetts, aka P Town. Happy Memorial Day! 🎊

  1. Sounds like a wonderful trip.l I know we’re off the beaten path – or the world’s largest cul de sac as someone I knew used to say – but if you are ever in the Norfolk-Virginia Beach area I’m always good for a day trip to the outer banks….don’t worry, I’m just dreaming
