Blink 2022 in Cincinnati, Ohio

Last night I went with a friend to Blink in Cincinnati, Ohio. It’s an annual global art display, spanning 30-blocks, with 39 large-scale projection mappings, murals, interactive light sculptures, music from over 80 bands, and diverse entertainment from both local and international artists. It lasts for four evenings. We walked about three miles to see about two-thirds of it.

This is in an area called Over-the-Rhine

Washington Park, also in the Over-the-Rhine area, had some beautiful installations.

Dancing for the Stars at Cincinnati Music Hall

The ninth annual Dancing for the Stars event was held April 11th at Cincinnati Music Hall. Pairing eight Cincinnati celebrities with some of the area’s finest professional dancers to raise funds for Cincinnati Arts Association’s Overture Awards and Arts Education Programs.  I took more than 200 photographs, as the freelance photographer for Cincinnati Refined.  After taking some posed shots of people at the event, I found a spot on the dance floor hugging the sideline, and the dancing began.  First up, the professional dancers tangoed and fox trotted their way around the floor, entertaining guests with dramatic swings and finales!

The settings on my Nikon D5100 were ISO 3200, Shutter 125 and Aper 5.6.  I knew a shutter speed of 125 can help stop action, and because I didn’t want to use flash, I knew I would need to have a high ISO speed and sacrifice some resolution of the photos.

Lumenocity

Lumenocity is an annual event held here in Over the Rhine, Cincinnati, Ohio at Cincinnati Music Hall.  I was invited to the dress rehearsal by a friend and met her and two other girlfriends to have a bite to eat beforehand at a restaurant called Abigail Street right around the corner from Music Hall.  The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Cincinnati Ballet perform under the white tent shown below while you’re treated to an elaborate and flamboyant light show on the exterior of Music Hall…

A Few Iconic Landmarks in Cincinnati

Cincinnati’s Music Hall has quite the history!  Completed in 1878, its reputation as one of America’s most haunted buildings comes as no surprise to many, given that it was built on top of a pauper’s cemetery.  I’m intrigued now and would love to take a tour in the middle of the night!

When I took the photograph on Saturday, it was quite cold and I’m sure I appeared a little crazy lying on the ground trying to capture the look I wanted…
