A beautiful woman is the one who never compares herself with others, because what others have doesn’t make her feel insecure…

Photo Shoots for iSPYCINCY

I love my work!  How many people can say that?  It took me a while to get here and it’s not just one job.  Not only am I a freelance photographer, I’m also helping an elderly couple (around 90 years old) organize and declutter their retirement village condo, and am taking people on trips to Europe!  I work with the husband, mostly on paperwork, because the wife has a touch of Alzheimer and is physically limited walking very slowly with a walker.  I’m finding this line of work very rewarding because I’m able to remain patient and let him make decisions about his things.  I offer suggestions.  I didn’t realize how patient I can be.

Anyway, last night I took photos for an event called Revel & Feast held at Memorial Hall in Cincinnati.  It’s was a celebration marking Cincinnati Shakespeare Company’s 20th anniversary season.  My assignment was to take around 25 posed shots of people along with their names, and another 25 shots of the awards, a performance by teenagers, and some of the area where dinner was to be served.

The light glowing in the background really accentuated these beverages…

There’s a place called Neon’s in an area of Cincinnati called Over-the-Rhine and I did a photo shoot for iSPYCINCY a couple of weeks ago.  They have a brunch on Sundays and an outdoor seating area.  Dogs and their owners were out soaking up the sun and enjoying the yummy food!

The Last Few Days

The last few days have been beautiful in Cincinnati!  My husband and I took advantage of the warm weather and took a Harley Motorcycle ride.  He calls it his “Hog”…

I had a University of Cincinnati Sorority Formal Dance photo shoot Saturday evening at the Still Meadows Country Club.  In three hours I took 360 photos.  They began eating soon after I arrived, so I took advantage of having a captive audience (while they were in the buffet line) to take photos.  I stood on random chairs around the room once the music started to take photos while they were dancing.  I would zoom in and get some sweet shots of them kissing or slow dancing.  It was a lot of fun!  I particularly like this photo…

Pet Photography — “My cat is so pretty”

I think my Cat, “Kate” is so photogenic and I don’t think I’m biased!  She loves me and I love her!  We trained her to go in and out of the doggie door to use the restroom!  At night, she’s able to roam around the living room and nap in her bed that I placed on top of a high table.  We keep our bedroom door shut and every morning, sometimes as early as 4:00am, she would come to the door and meow to get me up.  Now, I have a large piece of foam insulation board blocking the hallway.

I love my dog Jake too…but it’s more difficult to get good shots of him!

A Vision of White

I awoke this morning to a vision of white all around me…glorious snow!  My kitty Katie was even in awe!

The kind of snow that clings to every branch and creates a magical world of silence, surrounding you with nature’s calm beauty.

Traipsing outside in my house slippers, with my camera and tripod, Katie followed me everywhere I went.  My husband nicknamed me Doctor Doolittle because our dog and kitty follow me everywhere.

Pets are good for you

I love animals and like most people have pets.

A dog named Jake and a new addition to the family…a cat named Kate or Katie.  If you’ve read my blog in the past, you probably have seen photos of Jake, so I thought I’d let you meet Katie.  She’s very sweet, loves to eat and definitely has put Jake in his place.

She’s the Queen and here she is on her throne…

She has some favorite places to lay around…on a padded bar stool in the great room and on a pillow on my desk.  A friend had her for a short time…long enough to realize she wasn’t getting along with her other cat…so I agreed to take her.  I wasn’t sure how the dog and cat would get along, but after a shaky start, within the first week they now walk by each other without any clawing or hissing from Katie.  Jake is a big sweetie and would never hurt her…but I can see her point of view.  When you’re as tiny as her and there’s a big dog wanting to play, I think I’d be a bit worried too!

Jake hates to see me give her attention…Oh, why mommie, why?

You’ve probably heard about the studies that show how our blood pressure drops when we pet dogs or cats.  I actually get sleepy when I pet Katie…now Jake is another story.  He’s so playful and hyper most of the time…mine probably goes up with him!
