Mount Adams in Spring

This beautiful young lady was sitting by some art work in Mount Adams during the Art Walk and I asked her if I could take her photo.

I Heart Mount Adams

Mount Adams is a residential neighborhood in Cincinnati that’s filled with beautiful architecture, trendy bars, restaurants, and art!  I was a “Tourist in my City” on Saturday and visited the area for an Art Walk.  Rather than viewing the art, I found myself more interested in walking around taking photographs of the beautiful architecture!  As you can see, it was a beautiful Spring day and I totally enjoyed soaking up the sun and fresh air.  Originally Mount Adams was known as Mount Ida, named for a woman who used to live there.  If you’re interested in history, you can read about why they changed the name here.

Nicholas Longworth, an original landowner, transformed the hillside into a wine vineyard, and is known as the first commercially successful winemaker in the United States.  No wonder I like wine so much!  Unfortunately, due to grape diseases, a few decades later…the vineyards were virtually wiped out.

Northern Kentucky Wine Trail

The Northern Kentucky Wine Trail is a great way to spend an afternoon!  My friends, their parents and I packed a picnic lunch and visited two of the five wineries on the trail yesterday.  We’ve been to Camp Springs Winery, so we decided to try a couple of the others.  Our first stop was the Seven Wells Winery in California, Kentucky.

Of course, I had to scope out any cool photo ops and found this one…

Went to the Cincinnati Zoo to see the Flowers…but there weren’t any!

It was chilly last Wednesday when I arrived at the Cincinnati Zoo to take photos of their massive flower display.  I found a $2 discount at Krogers to use on the $15 admission price and avoided the $8 parking cost by parking less than a block away on the street.  Once inside, I began walking around, taking some photos of some of the animals and searching for the flowers.  I saw that bulbs had been planted, but no blooms.  I asked an employee and he said they haven’t bloomed yet.  I only stayed a couple of hours and didn’t even go into any of the buildings to see animals because my camera would fog up when I did.  It’s not that I don’t love animals and taking pictures of them, I guess I feel sorry for them being held captive.  But I understand how much knowledge and enjoyment humans receive in doing so.

The Polar Bears were the most playful and active of the bunch…

Art and Music in Cincinnati

It’s been over a week since I spent the day in Downtown Cincinnati for the Reds Baseball Opening Day celebration, but I have a few more photos I’d like to share with you.   I’m always on the lookout for creative and/or artistic photographic opportunities and I think this staircase fits that description.

I’ll call it “Curved Elegance”…

A Day in Cincinnati

Cincinnati, Ohio has something for everyone!  Monday was Opening Day for the Reds Baseball and what a party.  My girlfriends and I watched the Findlay Market Parade and then joined the party at The Banks (an area with restaurants and bars on the Ohio River in Downtown, Cincinnati).  This is the beautiful fountain at Fountain Square raining blue sky…

Food, Friends and Fun in Cincinnati

Have you ever gone to an all day party?  That’s what the Reds Baseball Opening Day festivities is and more!  It started with the Findlay Market Parade that I shared with you yesterday and then my friends and I made our way by foot to The Banks, which is, according to their website, “An 18-acre development on the Ohio River between Great American Ball Park and Paul Brown Stadium. This vibrant project is transforming downtown Cincinnati by creating a place for everyone to experience and enjoy.”  There are cool bars and restaurants and outdoor urban gardens, etc.  Some of Monday was a blur, because we were going from place to place pretty quickly, so I don’t know the name of everywhere we went.  For example, this place below.

But, I loved the girl, her style and the lips on the wall.  Looks like they still need to paint the wooden structure…

Reds Baseball Opening Day Parade

I’ve never attended the Findlay Market Parade or festivities for the Reds Baseball Opening Day in Cincinnati…up until Monday!  It was tons of fun!  The parade winds around Downtown.  We were at Fountain Square, where there were booths, music, food and drink!  I went with a few girlfriends and wanted to share some of our fun with you.  It wasn’t rainy…this photo is of a cool water feature in the Banks area of Downtown Cincinnati.

Hiking Dayton, Kentucky

Saturday I went on a three-mile hike with my hiking club through Meetup.com in Dayton, Kentucky, which is located along the Ohio River, across from Cincinnati.  It has finally started to warm up some and the sun was shining!  We split into a faster group and a slower group.  I’m always in the fast group, but wanted time to take photos…so I joined the slower group.  In this photo you can see the faster group up ahead…

Titillation in Over The Rhine

Join me for the last of our tour in Over the Rhine, located in Cincinnati, Ohio.

I meet people in the oddest places!  This beautiful lady was in line to use the restroom at one of the bars I stopped in.  She really liked the photo when I showed it to her and said she rarely has good ones taken.  She was going to Facebook friend me to use the photo…but I haven’t heard from her yet.  The first photo I took of her she was looking directly at the camera, so I asked her to turn her head slightly….voila!

Japps in Over The Rhine

There’s a bar in Over The Rhine (an area of town in Cincinnati Ohio) called Japps Since 1879 and I had been wanting to check it out, so I stopped in.  It used to be a hair store.  This is the head mixologist–Molly.  I love her tattoos and style!  And the bar is fabulous!  It’s housed in a restored historical building with live music, yummy craft cocktails and a unique atmosphere!

I’m in Lust with Over the Rhine

Over the Rhine is amazing!  Talk about an area of Cincinnati that has been revitalized!  Just in the past year or two…so much progress has been made in turning this area into a fun, safe, historic and beautiful section of Cincinnati to visit.  My girlfriend Gina and I arrived early Friday evening to walk around and enjoy the sunshine, along with warmer (50’s) temperatures.  The architecture is beyond cool!

Images from Northside, Cincinnati

The area known as “Northside” in Cincinnati has in the past had an image of being a bit rough, shoddy and perhaps dangerous, but that is changing!  With the opening of vegan restaurants and quaint shops, a new clientele are flocking to the region.  Some of the beautiful architecture can be seen within a short walk.  I’m not sure if this is a church or a residence?  I love the golden windows and purple!

The Danny Frazier Band and Sonny Moorman at Hollywood Casino

I’ve been a fan of The Danny Frazier Band for almost 20 years!  They have a Bluesy Country sound that I love!  I’m not a big fan of Country music, but I’ve always loved them!  Anyway…my girlfriend Cindy and I went to hear them play at the Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg, Indiana Saturday evening and of course I had to take lots of photos.  When I saw all of the mirrors in the bathroom, I knew we had to have some bathroom fun…

A Fantasy Land awaits you at Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg, Indiana

Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg, Indiana is a beautiful Fantasy Land, where you can double your money in an instant…or walk away a pauper!  It’s located almost an hour from my home, just across the border of Ohio into Indiana.  I went there on Saturday evening with a girlfriend to see a band that we like.  The last time I visited was almost 10 years ago, when I took my mother.  I’m not a gambler.  I only gambled $1.00 while in Las Vegas back in 2007.  I’ve been taking my camera with me most everywhere I go now…because when I don’t…I wish I had!  I don’t remember Hollywood Casino being this grand or pretty…perhaps they’ve renovated.
