Three Nights in Chania, Island of Crete, Greece
I decided to fly from Santorini to the Airport in Chania, Crete instead of taking the ferry because the ferry stops about three hours away from Chania, the town I wanted to visit. I fell in love with Chania! It’s pedestrian only and the pathways are lined with outdoor cafes, flowers, and shops.

Gardens in Tours, France
On one of my five days in Tours I walked from my Airbnb to the Prébendes d’Oé and Jardin botanique de Tours Gardens. Prébendes d’Oé Garden was very small, but pretty and Jardin botanique de Tours Garden is a free Botanical Garden and mini Zoo.

Cincinnati Flower Show at Yeatman’s Cove
The Cincinnati Flower Show, hosted by the Cincinnati Horticultural Society, kicked off its 26th year with a profusion of breathtaking floral beauty! According to the Society, it “dedicates itself to promoting the environmental, aesthetic, and educational benefits for parks and green spaces, and to providing opportunities for the enjoyment and appreciation of nature and horticulture.” The show has evolved into five days of garden-inspired shopping, international exhibitors and judges, guest speakers, nature inspired art, and gardening activities.
This year’s exhibition is set up along the Ohio River at Yeatman’s Cove and you’ll find tents filled with floral displays, dramatic table settings, and creative and unique container gardens. So many ideas for transforming your own gardens into a spectacular space!
The tents provided a nice backdrop for my favorite flower…the tulip!
Cincinnati’s infamous Findlay Market (farmer’s market) was used as inspiration in this display…

Travel Diary: Washington, D.C. – Day 2
Bike and Roll has a fun and educational bicycling adventure that begins in Alexandria, Virginia, where you pick up a bike and cycle 9 miles along a scenic path beside the Potomac River, to the historic and beautiful Mount Vernon, George Washington’s former plantation.
Before touring the Mansion and grounds, we had lunch at the Mount Vernon Inn.
I recommend the Shrimp and Grits and the Root Beer is pretty darn good!
Tunes & Blooms at the Cincinnati Zoo
Going to the Zoo, no matter where you live, is a rather inexpensive way to get some exercise and have fun! Especially if you have a band to listen to and beautiful flowers surrounding you. The Cincinnati Zoo has a cool free event (except for parking) in the Spring called “Tunes & Blooms” where you can do exactly that! I was there a couple of days ago with my friend Dee and was so delighted to happen upon this beautiful Peacock strutting his tail feathers…
The reggae music was fun to dance to provided by “The Cliftones” band. There were tons of children there enjoying the tunes!
Dee and I saw quite a few people we knew, so while she talked with them, I went in search of some cool photos…
Rebirth
Spring is so full of possibilities and life! The trees grow fuller, the flowers blossom and our world turns green! Living on five acres, surrounded by trees, I often feel disconnected…as if I’m in a cocoon. I like the quiet…the sounds of nature–chirping birds, rain pattering, things growing.
Elfreth’s Alley, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
There’s a magical street in Philadelphia called Elfreth’s Alley that has colorful and quaint townhomes dating back to 1736. It’s a short street, but full of charm and history and is our nation’s oldest residential street!
