My second day in Philadelphia began with an absolutely delicious egg, bacon and cheese biscuit sandwich at the Metropolitan Bakery near Rittenhouse Square. The biscuit was so flaky and yummy!

Philadelphia Beauty
Philadelphia has so much natural beauty! Not only its architecture, but all of the small Squares, Parks and Gardens. This is one of the small parks…
Elfreth’s Alley, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
There’s a magical street in Philadelphia called Elfreth’s Alley that has colorful and quaint townhomes dating back to 1736. It’s a short street, but full of charm and history and is our nation’s oldest residential street!
Lovin’ Philly
With just two days to explore Philadelphia by foot, I saw some beautiful architecture, flowers and scenery. I don’t remember the name of this park, but it is beautiful!
Tour of the Masonic Temple in Philadelphia
For $10 you can tour the beautiful Masonic Temple in Philadelphia! The Mason who led the tour wasn’t the nicest fellow or the most dynamic, but the Temple made up for him! The photos are in order of my tour and there were quite a few rooms, so I didn’t post all of them.
Oh and in case you’re wondering what Masons or Freemasons are…according to Wikipedia…
“Freemasonry (or Masonry) is dedicated to the Brotherhood of Man under the Fatherhood of God. It uses the tools and implements of ancient architectural craftsmen symbolically in a system of instruction designed to build character and moral values in its members. Its singular purpose is to make good men better. Its bonds of friendship, compassion, and brotherly love have survived even the most divisive political, military, and religious conflicts through the centuries. Freemasonry is a fraternity which encourages its members to practice the faith of their personal acceptance. Masonry teaches that each person, through self-improvement and helping others, has an obligation to make a difference for good in the world.”
What to See in Philadelphia
There is so much to see and do in Philadelphia! I started walking towards the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Boathouse Row. This domino sculpture is pretty cool! I like it sometimes when there is someone in my photo, because they become an actor…like in this photo…it’s almost seems this lady was posing for me!
City Life in Philadelphia
I arrived in Philadelphia Monday evening to the home of my lovely Couchsurfing hostess…Claire. She was still at work, so I had detailed instructions on where to find the keys to her beautiful City apartment that is located near Rittenhouse Square. All of the lights were on when I arrived to welcome me.
This is her living room. I love window seats! She is a voracious reader and just outside of this photo on the left is another built-in bookcase with books!
Theodore M. Berry International Friendship Park, Cincinnati, Ohio
The Theodore M. Berry International Friendship Park in Cincinnati, Ohio has some cool art! The walking path within the Park parallels the Ohio River and is approximately 1/2 mile in length. The Park represents world unity and global understanding and I love it!
Mount Adams in Spring
This beautiful young lady was sitting by some art work in Mount Adams during the Art Walk and I asked her if I could take her photo.
I Heart Mount Adams
Mount Adams is a residential neighborhood in Cincinnati that’s filled with beautiful architecture, trendy bars, restaurants, and art! I was a “Tourist in my City” on Saturday and visited the area for an Art Walk. Rather than viewing the art, I found myself more interested in walking around taking photographs of the beautiful architecture! As you can see, it was a beautiful Spring day and I totally enjoyed soaking up the sun and fresh air. Originally Mount Adams was known as Mount Ida, named for a woman who used to live there. If you’re interested in history, you can read about why they changed the name here.
Nicholas Longworth, an original landowner, transformed the hillside into a wine vineyard, and is known as the first commercially successful winemaker in the United States. No wonder I like wine so much! Unfortunately, due to grape diseases, a few decades later…the vineyards were virtually wiped out.
Northern Kentucky Wine Trail
The Northern Kentucky Wine Trail is a great way to spend an afternoon! My friends, their parents and I packed a picnic lunch and visited two of the five wineries on the trail yesterday. We’ve been to Camp Springs Winery, so we decided to try a couple of the others. Our first stop was the Seven Wells Winery in California, Kentucky.
Of course, I had to scope out any cool photo ops and found this one…
Went to the Cincinnati Zoo to see the Flowers…but there weren’t any!
It was chilly last Wednesday when I arrived at the Cincinnati Zoo to take photos of their massive flower display. I found a $2 discount at Krogers to use on the $15 admission price and avoided the $8 parking cost by parking less than a block away on the street. Once inside, I began walking around, taking some photos of some of the animals and searching for the flowers. I saw that bulbs had been planted, but no blooms. I asked an employee and he said they haven’t bloomed yet. I only stayed a couple of hours and didn’t even go into any of the buildings to see animals because my camera would fog up when I did. It’s not that I don’t love animals and taking pictures of them, I guess I feel sorry for them being held captive. But I understand how much knowledge and enjoyment humans receive in doing so.
The Polar Bears were the most playful and active of the bunch…
Art and Music in Cincinnati
It’s been over a week since I spent the day in Downtown Cincinnati for the Reds Baseball Opening Day celebration, but I have a few more photos I’d like to share with you. I’m always on the lookout for creative and/or artistic photographic opportunities and I think this staircase fits that description.
I’ll call it “Curved Elegance”…
A Day in Cincinnati
Cincinnati, Ohio has something for everyone! Monday was Opening Day for the Reds Baseball and what a party. My girlfriends and I watched the Findlay Market Parade and then joined the party at The Banks (an area with restaurants and bars on the Ohio River in Downtown, Cincinnati). This is the beautiful fountain at Fountain Square raining blue sky…
Food, Friends and Fun in Cincinnati
Have you ever gone to an all day party? That’s what the Reds Baseball Opening Day festivities is and more! It started with the Findlay Market Parade that I shared with you yesterday and then my friends and I made our way by foot to The Banks, which is, according to their website, “An 18-acre development on the Ohio River between Great American Ball Park and Paul Brown Stadium. This vibrant project is transforming downtown Cincinnati by creating a place for everyone to experience and enjoy.” There are cool bars and restaurants and outdoor urban gardens, etc. Some of Monday was a blur, because we were going from place to place pretty quickly, so I don’t know the name of everywhere we went. For example, this place below.
But, I loved the girl, her style and the lips on the wall. Looks like they still need to paint the wooden structure…
