Yesterday’s Airbnb experience: Sights, smells and tastes of Puebla on two wheels was okay. There were four other people on the tour, grandparents with a 12 and 9-year-old. The bicycles were a bit wobbly, with no gears, and initially there was a lot of time spent adjusting the seats for the children and also myself. My seat wasn’t able to be adjusted high enough. The two tour leaders were very accommodating and sweet. The pedal came off of one of the participant’s bicycle, photo below.

We made a number of food/drink stops. I wasn’t feeling well, Montezuma’s revenge, ugh, so I ate part of each meal. I forgot to take photos of the last two food stops, one of which was churros. I had them make it “to go” for me and had it for dinner.

The walk back to my Airbnb, after the tour ended, was only 7 minutes. I took a 3 hour nap. I’m feeling about the same today, I have some Cipro at the Airbnb in Mexico City so I will take it when I get back today.

A few hours exploring Coyoacan

This morning I ubered 6 miles (25 minutes) to an area of Mexico City called Coyoacan.  My first destination was a park called Viveros de Coyoacán. There were lots of people jogging and doing yoga. This man had a way with squirrels.

Jardín Centenario and Jardín Hidalgo are right next to each other and are the center of town.

The interior of the church in the park was gorgeous!

I hadn’t eaten breakfast so I went to Pepe Coyotes Coyoacán, a place I had read about on a blog.  I was the only gringo there. I ordered the same thing someone else had because it looked good.

The Coyoacan Market filled an entire city block.

The Plaza de la Conchita is pretty.

The Frida Kahlo Park was the highlight for me. First I videotaped a group dancing and then I took photos around the park. I ended up back by them. I showed them a dance I knew and we were dancing together and laughing!

I wanted to go to the Frida Museum but after checking a couple of days ago, there were no tickets for a while.

Spectacular Airbnb in San Miguel de Allende

The Airbnb I chose for my two night day in San Miguel de Allende is the most unusual place I have reserved. It’s above a cafe and the ceilings are 20 ft tall. It almost feels like I’m in a museum. I love the decor, it’s very artsy and colorful.

After my exploration of the town, I ordered a salad from the cafe below and they brought it up to me. I had purchased a bottle of wine and had a couple of glasses. The terrace is my favorite space. It’s huge and the views are amazing.

As night fell, I enjoyed being away from the crowds below and the sunset was pretty.

This morning, I plan on hiking up to a Mirador for a beautiful view at sunrise.

Historic Center of Mexico City

Today started with a 4-mile Uber ride (20 minutes) to Murales de la Secretaria de Educacion Publica.  There’s an amazing volume of Diego Rivera murals located here.

A few minutes walk from there is the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral. 

I walked less than 20 minutes to the Palacio de Belles Artes museum. Mexico definitely values their senior citizens.  I have free entry to most of the museums here.

Located next to the Palacio de Belles Artes Museum is Mexico’s oldest park, Alameda Central.  There are beautiful fountains and trees in the Park.

Museo de Arte Popular is a few minutes walk from the park. This was my favorite museum today. I tend to like quirky whimsical art.
